Find Out How to Protect Your Vote, Saturday, Oct. 16

Join us Saturday, October 16, for our 9:30 a.m. virtual coffee klatch, community announcements at 10, and then presentations from two folks hot on protecting our right and ability to vote :Erica Peresman and Rachel Diehl.

Sign up here and now to Zoom with our two guest speakers–and your fellow cool Benzie Dems–and learn what you might do to help out.

Erica will cover the messing-with-our-voting department. Paid circulators will soon be hawking a deeply dishonest Republican petition, the wildly misnamed “Secure MI Vote” act.

It won’t secure a thing…except, they hope, more Michigan Republican victories.

Erica Peresman

Ms. Peresman is the Michigan Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Director. She worked hard for that wonderful 2018 Constitutional initiative landslide that made voting much easier for all.

She’ll give us the good and bad news about what the GQP is up to and clue us in on what Democrats around the state are doing to sink “Secure MI Vote.” She’s got a tight slide show, answers to our many questions, and a plan for pushing back the authoritarian tide.

Rachel Diehl (he/him)

Rachel will cover the un-gerrymandering-Michigan part. As you’ve likely heard, that other great Constitutional initiative we helped pass in 2018–the one to un-gerrymander Michigan–is doing its thing right now, via the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission.

They are so close to settling on new Congressional, state House, and state Senate districts. Let’s just say that it could be going better. Rachel will explain what we can do to help assure this all leads to ‘partisan fairness’–which is an actual, real, measurable thing.

As the Mid- and Northern-Michigan Organizing Director for Voters Not Politicians, he’s wired right into the mapping and districting stuff that VNP made happen via its stunning anti-gerrymandering amendment victory.

Hope you’ll join us! Click here to sign up with our dear Zoombot. Zoomy will get right back to you with your own, personalized link and a guaranteed good seat!
