This Saturday, at 1 p.m., we’re going to dive into Honor’s National Coho Festival Parade–one of the funnest things we’ve tackled in a while.
We’ll parade down Main Street with big smiles and signs serious and humorous, celebrating that magnificent fish and its prominent place in Honor’s outdoor sports, recreation, and wildlife scene.
Here’s how to join in:
10:30 a.m.: If you want to make a fishy sign, join us at Headquarters. It could say “Hooked On Democracy” or “Salmon Love Clean Water” or “Cast Your Vote with Us.”
We’re sure you can do even better–come on by and have some fun!
Or not. You can carry one of our Democratic values poles, instead.
12 noon: Paraders start lining up along South Street. That means you must take the back way to get to our parking spot–Jana Goldman’s place on Bingo Lane. Just take US 31 to Riverside Drive, follow it to South St., and make two right turns, onto Bingo. We’ll have those Dem values signs, promoting things like “Affordable House” and “Childcare” and “Public Education” and “Medicaid” and “Climate Change”–the cavalcade of things good Dems support.
1 p.m.: It’s showtime! Paraders move out from South Street, head down Main St. (U.S. 31) through downtown Honor, to Riverside Drive (about a half-mile), and then disperse.
We’ll walk along Riverside back to Jana’s, hand in our signs (you can keep the ones you make), and call it a good day.
This is such a fine opportunity to say hello to Honor folks and remind them the Benzie Dems are in their corner, support their community, and care about the same things–from good fishing to good jobs.
You may want to stick around for the Festival itself, which goes on in the downtown park the rest of Saturday.
