On Saturday, June 14, 2025, an estimated 500 Benzie County marchers joined millions of citizens all over the U.S. and the world to protest the despotic actions of the current administration. “No Kings” was the theme of the day, and protestors also carried signs objecting to the many other cruel and unlawful actions of the current White House aimed at healthcare, food assistance, immigrants, universities, foreign aid, and international trade. Local, national, and international media took note of the outpouring of resistance, amplifying our voices.
Meanwhile, on a low riser in the nation’s capital, a frown-faced wannabe king watched his multi-million-dollar birthday parade shuffle by, soldiers out of step and dressed in combat fatigues, well aware that the event originally conceived to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Army had been co-opted into a president’s party. Crowd size was estimated at 20,000.
