There’s a ton to do before November to make sure we help elect a Democratic Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, U.S. Senator, Congressman, state Senator and state Representatives.
We can get each and every one of them if we work hard and smart.
Here are some ways to help. Some are about the Big Vote, some are about building our party, strengthening our ties around Benzie, and making sure our neighbors understand what Democrats stand for.
Special Events: We’re gonna have a big bunch of ’em for our candidates, community causes, forums, and other cool happenings. We need planners, setter-uppers, hosts, and poster-posting peeps. Please email Jim if you want to help out.
Campaign Committee: We’ve been contacted by some folks looking to run for school board, road commission, or village councils. Help us welcome them, introduce them to the Benzie Dems, and orient them to what’s up with local elections this crucial Midterm year. Email Jana.
Conventioneers: Did you know our Attorney General, Secretary of State, University Trustee, and Supreme Court candidates are chosen at the April 19 state Democratic Convention? Some of us are going; please join us! For more details, email Paul.
Postcard Pushers: There’re lots of people who were happy to vote for The Felon who are now sad about it. That’s true in Benzie, so we’re putting together powerful messages to mail directly to them. Like that idea? Email Keira and she’ll get back to you when it’s time.
Friendly Phoners: We like to check in with our members to make sure we’re still in touch and hear their thoughts on how Benzie Dems are doing, what you want to see us do, and what you’re seeing in your neck of the woods that we should know about. Email Jan to sign up.
No Kings Collaborators: We’re making big plans for No Kings 3, on March 28. We’ll need designated sign holders, hosts for sign-making at HQ, crowd-control marshals, and more. Help us make this the biggest, coolest public action Benzie’s ever seen! Email us to sign up.
Baldwin Backers: Some of us will rally at Baldwin again next month, and every month after that, on first Saturdays. Could you commit to that, or every other month? You’ll help us get good crews together AND–just by telling pals and neighbors what you’re up to–recruit folks. Courage and commitment are contagious, ya know! So please, if you’re interested, click here to contact Louise and DO include your phone number!
Corner Captains: Indivisible’s been doing this for a good while now around TC, and we can do it here. Just a few people, just for an hour, at different busy Benzie intersections, maybe weekly or whatever works. Please volunteer and we’ll Zoom up, figure out good times and places, and get it going. Just click here to contact Louise and DO include your phone number!
Township Lookouts: Very cool: You take notes at monthly township meetings; DeAnne formats ’em into good-lookin’, wildly popular emails for the township’s members and friends. But we’re MIA in Blaine, Colfax, Crystal Lake, Frankfort, Platte, Weldon, and (until May) Almira. You don’t need to be a township resident, and we will help get you going. Lookouts like their gigs ‘cuz they learn so much about their community. Drop Jim an email and he’ll help you check it out!
Deep Canvassers: Last campaign we did a new thang: Visiting independents and infrequent Dem voters–not to tell them how to vote, but to ask them what they think–and having good conversations. Our ‘deep canvassers’ mostly got very friendly receptions and felt it a fine use of their time. And our data people thought it made a small turnout difference. Want to know more? Send Mike an email and please do leave your phone number, too.
Team Zoom Tech Support: We’ve got our monthly Zooming thing and our Chili Friday Movie thing down. But we could use some more help–for backup and to spell the folks who’ve done it for a couple years now. It’s not hard (it’s fun!), and we’re happy to show you the ropes! Just email Jim
Pop-up Proprietor: We want to expand our Pop-up project–which gets our message out, face-to-face, to our neighbors. Do you live (or operate a business) somewhere that might make a good pop-up location? We’re looking for places on moderately busy streets where it’s easy to see our little tent and stop on by. If that’s you, email Barry and he’ll get in touch.
Betsy Booster: It’s true: Early campaign money is totally crucial. Let’s throw a really strong fundraiser for Betsy in the early spring, and then some more them through the year. It’s nice to do them at someone’s home for a change of pace from HQ. Got a place with the right space? Drop Jill a line and she’ll get back to you.
